World-renowned Chinese pianist Niu Niu will perform at a special concert at the Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore on October 27. The event is being organized by the Viva Foundation to raise money for the treatment, research, education and recovery of children with childhood cancer. The event will also mark the 20th anniversary of the foundation.

In her 23-year musical career, Niu Niu has participated in numerous concerts in different countries around the world. However, she sees this event as one of the most difficult performances for her. In one night, she will perform one part of a musical composition for eight different instruments.

The power of music for children

Niu Niu is deeply moved by the work of Viva Foundation in supporting children with childhood cancer, so she wants to express her heartfelt support through this event.

Niyu Niyu believes that music can bring comfort and joy to people. She believes that music can somehow provide mental strength and a sense of hope to children suffering from cancer.

There is no guarantee that a patient will survive even after receiving treatment and other assistance. However, no matter how slim the chances, this artist is in favor of trying.

He said that even if the chance of survival is only one percent or half a percent, he wants to keep trying.

Eight melodies arranged on one stage

Niu Niu gave a glimpse of this special event titled ‘Viva Concerti: Where the Twins Shall Meet’ in a performance on September 2.

That day, he presented a specially arranged performance of selected excerpts from eight musical compositions, as well as an original composition of his own.

This year, he will be seen in a new role, not only on the piano, but also as a violinist. He will perform a shortened version of the ‘Butterfly Lovers’ Concerto’ with the orchestra.

The event was preceded by a performance by former ministers George Yeo and Lim Hui Hua, as well as distinguished guests.

Viva Foundation in 20 years

For the past two decades, the Viva Foundation has been working to treat and research childhood cancers. The organization has developed new initiatives to combat childhood cancer by focusing on these three areas: research, treatment, and education.

For the foundation’s founder and chairperson, Jennifer Yeo, the 20th anniversary is an important milestone. According to her, it is time to reassess where the organization stands after all these years and where it wants to go in the future.

The foundation seeks to invest human and financial resources in areas where insufficient efforts have been made, identifying needs. Their goal is not to simply follow an ongoing project; rather, they aim to take initiatives that can bring about a significant change and benefit many people.

Not just survival, but a beautiful future

In the coming years, Viva Foundation’s goal is not only to increase the survival rate of children with childhood cancer, but also to make their lives more meaningful and normal after treatment.

For this, there are plans to build a strong team of research activities and skilled professionals.

Jennifer Yeo’s son, Frederick Yeo, works as a full-time researcher in the foundation’s laboratory. Frederick, who himself recovered from leukemia as a child, later became a doctor and helped establish the laboratory, which also has modern equipment that allows a tumor to be analyzed from all angles.

In Jennifer Yore’s words, there is love behind this work. No identity is important to them – race, language, religion or nationality. Every child’s life is precious.

His message to the audience attending the October 27 event is the same—every child matters.
